Architecture Group One
We are a large, friendly and enthusiastic group with 40 members who come from all walks of life. We enjoy looking at buildings, learning about architects and also the engineers who made their construction possible. In the sixteen years that the group has been running we have visited places far and wide. We have gone abroad to places such as Malta, Vienna, Brussels and more. We often go to London to visit a building or go on a walk to admire the architecture of buildings that we pass. These outings are led either by a group member or an actual guide. As well as London, we go to places further away, eg. King's Lynn, Ipswich, Cambridge and we go to places locally, eg Wheathampstead, St.Albans, Redbourn etc. We try to have a good range of outings to sort the range of the group. As well as admiring architecture, we always make time for a coffee stop and inevitably there is a lunch stop too. We have a planning meeting once a year, which is generally followed by a Bring and Share lunch. Every member is expected to volunteer to lead an outing every year or two years. It isn't as daunting as it sounds as it is very easy to pair up with some one else and myself and many others are happy to offer help and ideas, You aren't just left on your own, unless you want to be of course We tend to have one outing per month, occasionally more.
I knew nothing about architecture when I joined the group 12 years ago, only that I loved looking at buildings and wanted to know more about them. It is amazing how quickly you learn things.
Although the group is full at the moment, do make contact if you are interested in joining as vacancies do come up sometimes Kathy Caddy
