Wine Tasting 2 has been running since November 2013. We meet monthly at Members' homes.
Each member takes a turn in hosting an evening. We have had a variety of themes for the evenings such as countries, regions, grape varieties, usually adopting a "blind" tasting format where we try to identify grape/country, region, etc. A tasting sheet is available but not compulsory. Finally the host does "The Big Reveal", and we tuck into a cheese and charcuterie platter with the wine remainders, accompanied by hilarity. We have a budget of about £70 for wine per tasting and the host also provides the supper and plain snacks to accompany the wine served.
The evenings are relaxed and always interesting. We have occasionally hosted tastings presented by an external professional and sometimes attend external tastings and events together.
Membership of this group has had to be restricted, as it is difficult to seat more than 8 people in our homes. We currently have 7 members, so we have 1 vacancy.
